The vision of Starfish is to make a positive difference in the lives of children and their families/whanau. We aim to do this by providing those who are raising, teaching and caring for children, with access to culturally enriching and inspirational parenting education and resources.
We believe our work is particularly appropriate in the current social climate where people are voicing alarm at the high rates of family violence and there is a growing concern that respect for one another is diminishing. Starfish recognises that peace and respect in a community must first begin with peace and respect in the home. For positive change to take place in society, communities will benefit from being able to recognise, understand and practice alternative parenting strategies.
Starfish is an organisation passionate about providing innovative and non-judgemental approaches that promote the acceptance and valuing of all people. The strategies, programmes and resources we endorse are recognised as successful in achieving these goals.
